A Typical Working Day
7:00 AM — Retrieve tasks, adjust weld machine and gas flow settings
7:30 AM — Weld pressure pipelines or structural components per ISO 9606
9:30 AM — Coffee break — 15 minutes with the workshop crew
10:00 AM — Assemble plates, perform TIG or MIG root runs
12:00 PM — Lunch break — enjoy smørrebrød and warm tea with team
1:00 PM — Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) prep, visual inspections
3:00 PM — Clean and secure welding tools, gas hoses, and PPE
3:30 PM — Complete daily weld logs, record materials used, and sign off

Recruitment Process

Video interview with Danish employer (Vestas, shipyard, or Industriens Overenskomst signatory); contract issued at Industriens Overenskomst collective agreement wage floor
Work permit application submitted to SIRI (Styrelsen for International Rekruttering og Integration / Danish Agency for International Recruitment) — processing 6–10 weeks; fast-track available for shortage occupations
Danish consulate biometric appointment; combined work and residence permit issued
Arrival in Denmark: CPR-nummer registration at Borgerservice, NemKonto (Danish bank account) at Jyske Bank or Nordea, employer site orientation
Danish language (sprogskole) course enrollment — state-subsidised; union membership with Dansk Metal explained
